One of my favorite LA restaurants. The menu is full of things that I probably wouldn't try anywhere else, but I'm at animal, so why not get some crispy pig ear and veal brains.
It's a great place to go with a group and share everything. We had 4 people last night and ordered 8 things and some dessert. Everything was delicious.
The highlights were the oxtail poutine and the foie gras biscuit and gravy.
Since living in LA I've always gone to a Jon and Vinny restaurant for my birthday and they always make it a great birthday.
I was absolutely floored by animal. Their chefs are very creative and inventive. All three dishes I had were fantastic. I started with a rabbit cabbage wrap dish which was very spicy but good. The main was a foie gras cured in salt with rhubarb reduction, this was created by the sous chef and is really one of the best dishes I've experienced. I couldn't help myself to try the desert and wasn't disappointed with the bacon infused chocolate bar and dehydrated Nutella. I loved animal and can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new, modern and adventurous dining experience.
I was told this restaurant is one of the best in LA, especially in Fairfax, but I was sorely disappointed. It was difficult to get a reservation on a Monday night for a party of 4, but when I arrived the restaurant was only half-full. The server was helpful in helping us choose what to order and we ended up deciding on the marrow bone, pork ribs, and the rabbit larb. I was so excited to try this very unique take on fusion food and I was underwhelmed. Animal pushed too hard on both the fusion end and the minimalist end so what came out was a dish that was seasoned/cooked poorly and difficult to eat. Their wine selection is solid and I think I enjoyed my glass of red more than anything I ate there. That being said, if you want an adventurous meal, go to Animal (but maybe have a backup just in case you leave hungrier than you arrived).
Amazing experience. This was our second visit. It's a good spot for couples, but I highly recommend at least 3 people just so that you can order a greater variety of items. Our server, Brian, was very attentive and had some great recommendations for wine pairings. Can't wait to go back.
Such a great place! We went for brunch and ordered a few items to share and they were all delicious. The hamachi dish may have been our favorite, but you cannot go wrong with anything. The burger was also incredibly tasty!
