Absolutely amazing every time. Recommend the N.Y. Pastrami or beef dip sandwich and the coleslaw is also great.

I am a senior citizen and have lived and in the area for 73 years and have never had a worse meal or service! I was served a stale half sandwich of rye bread and dried reheated meat of some kind..... pastrami? I complained , The waiter took the food back and replaced the order in front of me. It was the exact same sandwich, exactly the same stale bread and dried out pastrami. I was stunned! I suppose he figured I was too old to tell the difference....My wife and daughter, who were with me, suggested I reorder. I could not. I paid the bill and left. My friend's comments could not be repeated after I repeated this story to them.

Its hard to list just a few things about what makes Canter's great, but my family has been bringing me here since the early 90's. I've never had a meal I didn't enjoy. The staff is mostly older, of the slightly cantankerous old Jew style, but warm and welcoming most of the time. The pastrami is great. Get the rueben. Or get the corned beef if that's your style. Both are amazing. Everything is delicious. If you come here the right timw of day or night, you can spot local celebrities and sometimes big names that are in town performing. The Kibbitz Room next door is a gold old fashioned dive bar, like the kind your granddad used to tell you about. Come here with friends, relax, rest, refuel, get to know the warm brown leather of the booths and the stained-glass ceiling one late Tuesday night. Get to know the hostesses and the waiters, they know all the best places to pass the time. And get yourself a bag of cookies from the bakery to take home. Trust me.

FOOD IS LOW QUALITY & MADE IN A PROCESSING PLANT IN CUDAHY. NO BAKERY GOODS ARE MADE THERE ALTHOUGH EMPLOYEES THINK ITS A BIG JOKE TO TELL YOU THERES A "BAKERY" UPSTAIRS. THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE YOU CAN VISIT AS EVEDENCED BY STRONG ARM ROBBERIES, MULTIPLE BEATINGS & STABINGS IN THE VICINITY. A LARGE BALD WHITE MAN HANGS OUT IN FRONT & THREATENS VIOLENCE IF YOU DON'T GIVE HIM MONEY. HANG OUT FOR MENTALLY ILL PANHANDLERS. STAY AWAY!

I had a nice bowl of Matzo ball soup with the biggest, fluffiest matzo ball I've ever seen. Yes Langer's #19 is to die for but wow the place is in Macarthur Park..far from my mid city habitue..so Cantor's it is. They have the scalloped cookies dipped in chocolate my grandmother used to buy me in NY when I was a kid.

Been coming here for years. Bakery has Russian pumpernickel with raisins. Can get a large sandwich on rye. Best things to get on the menu: stuffed cabbage, matzo ball soup, Canter's Fairfax, latkas (potato pancakes), smoked fish, or chopped liver. Good Jew food, but sadly not kosher anymore. Also open 24hrs so it's great to go to after the clubs in Hollywood.
