Came here on a whim, was not financially prepared. Did find something I could afford. Had the lasagna with a small salad. Salad was fresh, small amount of cucumber and tomato, mostly lettuce. Lasagna was hot, cheesy, and delicious. Spent my time outside on the porch, which I enjoyed a lot. Would like to come back and try more, since I know what I'm looking at per plate ($13-$21).
Nice outdoor dining area, good selection on the menu, and has a good upscale but local vibe. On Wednesdays they have $1 draft beers (including a couple craft selections) for military patrons, and when I went last Friday around 4:30 pm I also received this deal (thank you so much!). I had the cheeseburger which was big and tasty ($12ish). Entrees averaged about $20. From poking around Milton, I don't think there is any real competition to Blackwater Bistro, but it would still have pleased even had there been some.
Had a great experience at this restaurant. We stopped here after having an enjoyable time at Holland Farms and this was a good way to end our time in Milton, Fl. Went here based on the reviews. The restaurant looked like it was converted from being a house. Gravel parking area across the street from the restaurant. There was outside seating area but chose to eat inside. Dim lighting and it felt kind of war but we soon adjusted to this. We greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was really nice. A large menu, kind of hard to make a selection from all the great options. Entree were $20+. They had a bar and wine and beer selection. This restaurant really supported the military, above the bar were badges from military personnel and several news clippings about people. I decided to get the shrimp and grits. The hubby got the chicken divine that came with shrimp. The little one got chicken tenders and macaroni. 1 star knocked off for the wait, took over 30 mins to get the food, which would of been ok if the place was packed but it was barely anyone there - we only saw 2 other couples eating. Plus, it would of been nice to have something to nibble on during the wait like bread. Also, my husband wasn't informed until he asked for it that several meals they were out of. However, the food was really good and thankfully worth the wait. The food was nice and hot. I received a large plate that had a big scoop of grits surrounded by large shrimp, mushrooms, and bacon, with a nice light creamy sauce. 2 slices of little bread but they weren't toasted or anything. The food was really good, the sauce was amazing, best shrimp and grits I've had in a while, the hubby wished they served a small portion as an appetizer because he enjoyed it too. His chicken divine was really good, good seasoned chicken. We both got broccoli as a side and it was good when mixed with the sauce. The little one's food was ok - chicken tenders lacked seasoning and the mac and cheese did not seem to be homemade but she ate it. For dessert we got the orange cake slice. I think the prices for there dessert was really expensive ($8) for just a regular slice. It was pretty good though, you could tell it was home made, it reminded me of the orange ice cream pop in flavor. The icing had white chocolate chips. We finished it there. Overall we really enjoyed everything and will probably try this place again next time we are in milton, I know my husband wanted the chicken cor de blue that they were out of.
Always a destination for us when we camp at Coldwater Recreation Area. We love the menu, the service, the creaky floors :) It's so nice to go somewhere that is not a chain restaurant! LOVE Blackwater Bistro!
Everything has great flavors. Servers were nice and management quickly resolved an issue we had with our beef wellington. This will be one of my go to places.
